What studio owners ask us.
Grouped by where you probably are. Anything missing — the email in the footer reaches a human.
Understanding it
Isn't a low free-class conversion rate just normal?
Some leak is structural — free signups include browsers. But "normal" hides a spread: the same class converts wildly differently depending on what happens before and after it. In a live business we measure, engaged-then-quiet people closed at 67% once re-engaged — your no-shows and non-joiners are mostly unfinished, not uninterested. The free score takes three minutes.
I hate selling. Isn't the fix basically "be pushier"?
The opposite — the fix takes the selling OFF the humans. Sequences make the asks: warm, timed, with easy exits. You teach the class; the system does the follow-up you'd dread. Most owner-instructors convert MORE once they personally stop having to close anyone.
Webinar funnels too, or just in-person?
Same funnel, worse gravity — webinar no-show rates run higher because attendance costs a click, not a drive. The stages are identical: warm gap, recover no-shows (with the replay as the hook), ask attendees, count everything.
How is this different from the no-show service in your network?
Sister doors: The Empty Chair defends BOOKED APPOINTMENTS at practices. This door covers the trial-to-member funnel — a longer path with a sales conversion at the end, which appointment no-shows don't have. If your business books appointments, take theirs; if it converts trials, take this one.
Is my business a fit?
Who is this for?
Businesses that convert events into relationships: gyms and fitness studios, yoga, dance, martial arts, education and course businesses, webinar-driven services, kids' programs. If people sign up, attend (or don't), and are supposed to become members, it fits.
Our intro offer is paid, not free. Does that change things?
Paid trials pre-filter the browsers — your show rates run higher and your leak concentrates at the ask and follow-up stages. Same funnel, different weak point; the measurement finds yours either way.
We run on ClassPass / Mindbody / a studio platform. Still relevant?
Owning the platform and running the funnel are different facts — most studio software CAN send sequences that were never configured past the confirmation email. The most common finding is a capable tool doing one-tenth of its job.
Do you need access to our booking system?
No. Test signups enter through your public funnel like real people — that's what keeps the measurement honest. Attendance-stage details are coordinated with you so no real mats get held.
How it works
What's in the free assessment?
Ten questions: business type, signup volume, what happens between form and event, post-event follow-up, no-show handling, persistence, ownership, member lifetime value. You get a 0–100 score, four axis scores worst-first, and a written report with a monthly vanishing estimate from your own numbers.
Who writes the report?
The written analysis is produced by Claude, an AI model, from your answers and computed scores only — every claim traces to something you said. The scoring is published, deterministic math. We name the AI because it's true.
What does the $500 discovery involve?
Test signups enter your real funnel over five business days, per your written permission. We log every pre-event touch and its timing, what a deliberate no-show receives, and what an attendee hears about joining. Timestamped at the source. Then the measured funnel beside your self-reported one, stage by stage, and a working session.
Will test signups take spots in real classes?
No — attendance-stage measurement is coordinated with you, and no persona ever holds a mat a real person wanted. Every probe is identified to you after the window closes.
Money, after, and objections
Why pay $500 when marketing agencies audit funnels free?
A free funnel audit concludes you need more traffic — the thing the agency sells. The $500 buys stage-by-stage measurement from a party with no ads to sell you: if your funnel converts, "confirmed, here's proof" is the deliverable, and the engagement can end there.
What do fixes cost?
Builds start at $2,500, quoted in writing after the discovery, scoped to your leaking stage. One recovered member a month typically funds it. The floor is published because hidden prices waste everyone's time.
What happens after I get my score?
You have the report and the estimate. Strong score — keep it, you're done. Leaking — the report's next step is the discovery, booked and prepaid online in one step. No sales sequence beyond three emails that end on schedule.
How do I know you won't inflate findings to sell a build?
The discovery is priced to stand alone, so "your funnel converts" is a deliverable we can afford. Every finding carries timestamps and stage counts you can check. Estimates and measurements are labeled separately in writing — padding would show.
Never heard of you. Why trust you?
Don't — verify. The score is free and shows its work. The discovery is $500 against timestamps you can inspect. Every step is sized so you're never trusting us past the evidence in hand. Who we are: about page.
